The Game of Life is the mobile version of one of those board games that have the unique ability to destroy friendship. Please, understand this in a good way. A game that makes you want to win that badly can only be a good one. This one looks similar to the good old monopoly, but this time you won´t own a whole side of the table to rise an empire and send your rivals to bankruptcy. Instead, the game will make you choose your own way of life, accepting jobs and paying your bills like a good citizen. The player that ends the game with the highest amount of money in his pocket wins. Simple, isn´t it? This is one of the best things about this game, you don’t have to plot to destroy your rivals, just make the right decisions and the game will do it for you as you progress.

Pros

  • It´s almost as cool as the original board game
  • You can play with friends using only one device

Cons

  • Games tend to be long as hell

The Game of Life is a video game developed by Electronic Arts based on the popular board game created in 1860 by Mr. Milton Bradley. This app is available for both Android and iOS devices. In this game, players have to move around a board, landing on different spaces that represent life events, making decisions as they come across jobs and other events. This game has a simple objective: the player that ends with the most money wins.

Players have to move around a board landing on different spaces that represent life events

This version of the original board game has been nicely elaborated: the setting is full of animations and smooth textures that help immerse you in the game. It has also been adapted to tactile screens, as everything is controlled using a fluid and responsive touch interface. You have to spin the huge roulette that determines how far your piece moves just by swiping your finger across the screen and then you can start playing!

How to Play

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Don’t worry, I’m not trying to quote the whole opening speech from Trainspotting, this is actually the way The Game of Life works. You have to choose your character and a color car to represent you and then move this car through several spaces that simulate real events such as graduating from high school or retirement. Towards the end of the game you will find different jobs, children, lawsuits, property and life tiles , which represent major events that remain unseen until the game is over. You can use cards with different effects to block your opponents, but they can do the same to you, so choose wisely when using them.

This title features single player mode with up to five AI-controlled players for a six player game. You are free to use one device to play multiplayer using Pass N’ Play mode . One of the best things about this app is that it allows you to fast-forward through opponent turns (only when they are AI) so you don’t have to wait forever until the wheel spins, the car moves and your rival makes a play.
